A potted history

My writing career began when my head was turned by the creativity I saw in advertising. It was a golden age of memorable ads and incredible headlines. Graduating with a BA Hons in Advertising, I headed to London and the bright lights of agencies such as FCB, D’Arcy and CDP.

A few years and a gong or two later, my head was turned again, this time by the iconic ethical champion, The Body Shop. Fast forward five years and I was approached to become Head of Copy for the organic skincare standard bearer, Neal’s Yard Remedies, where I spent the next seven years.

Finally it was time for me to spread my wings and embark on my much longed for new adventure, as a freelance copywriter.

I had been sending out monthly emails for several years, but felt the content was becoming very staid, samey, and too technical. I wanted someone to help me with content from an ‘observer’ point of view. Someone from outside my business who would word things differently.

Since I’ve started working with Michelle the average open rate increased to 30%, way above the industry benchmark, and the average number of opens increased by more than 70%!
